{{RUMER}}

I’m Matthew Rumer,

A designer, builder, and creative director based in Los Angeles. I started Römer Haus as a way to bring together everything I care about; craft, intimacy, and the stories we tell through space. My background is in production design and visual storytelling, but my work has always lived between worlds: furniture, fashion, and film. I build to explore how design can hold tension and tenderness. At the same time, how an object can create safety, invite risk, and remember touch.

My work moves between furniture, fashion, and film: three ways of shaping how people touch, look, and stay with each other. Before Römer Haus I worked as a union production designer. Sets, light, and texture taught me how intimacy happens in space. Every surface changes what someone feels safe enough to do. Römer Haus grew from that idea. That objects designed for presence, not performance are how I study tension, balance, and trust.

"Sex is not a subject. It is a method."

Everything connects through touch.
Design is my way of building honesty into form.

So I chased that feeling, the feeling of finally giving myself a 100 percent, a 100 percent to me. And found out I was right all along.

The same signal runs through every form I build. It only changes its surface.

Charlie Ru Studios is where I test the truth of it.
Film becomes a way to study connection in real time. Bodies meet. Fear breaks. Control shifts.
The camera is not for performance. It’s for evidence.

DEN 13 builds the uniform for that same world.
It’s code, not fashion. Each piece is a signal. Each signal says how far someone’s willing to go.
The line between clothing and ritual disappears. What you wear becomes instruction.

Together they form the system I call Römer Haus.
Furniture. Clothing. Film. All built to feel. All built to witness.

Römer Furniture is the physical proof of that idea. Minimal. Modular. Built to witness.

DEN 13 turns it into a uniform system: coded garments and gear made to test boundaries and hold identity.

Charlie Ru Studios brings the philosophy back into flesh: cinematic intimacy, queer power, emotional design.

I use to say, "I build realities for people to believe in." and I loved it.. but now "I don't just design realities for people to escape to. I build spaces for permission and vulnerability to create whats needed."
